Memoir

"Memoir" aims at creating an augmented reality where an individual would be submerged into the sea of a multi-sensory experience when he travels back to the time and sees for himself the rich past of our heritage and learn from it. It not only evokes curiosity but would enhance a learning experience using digital way.

About Memoir

The following academic project was undertaken as a part of the annual "International Open Elective" wherein various faculties from around the world take part in holding a two week course on a selected theme. This year theme was "Heritage". My elective was “Design heritage and Digital Age” which was to be proceeded by the two faculties namely Mr. Ravi Deepres and Ms. Eevie Dutheil who were specialized in Photography Design and Industrial Design respectively.

Concept

The heritage of India is rich and over time has seen civilizations changing and evolving. The times have changed and with it have hid so many now invisible stories. Memoir is an endeavour to make the invisible visible by letting the users peek into the curtains of the past. We chose NID's Eames Plaza as the heritage site to unfold it's story.

Having conceptualized the ideas for the theme, we came up onto a decision of finalizing NID as our heritage site and with this process we wanted to orate the rich history behind the institute by selecting certain famous spots. We started researching on the same , reading books and looking at archival photographs and documents. It was an enriching experience to go through how it all started and how things have evolved over time. As much as we were mesmerized by the experience, the same to be replicated in a visual manner sounded like a good idea. One of our spot that we chose was the famous tomb in the NID premises. Being always intrigued by its presence in an educational institute, we wanted to cover its history through our application.
